About the firm.

Mr. Kennedy

Walter W. Kennedy, III, a native of Birmingham, Alabama, is a 1976 graduate of Vanderbilt University, where he received a B.A. degree, cum laude, majoring in English. He then attended the University of Alabama School of Law, where he served on the Editorial Board of the Alabama Law Review and was a member of the National Trial Advocacy Team, Bench and Bar Legal Honor Society, and Phi Delta Phi.

After graduation from law school, Mr. Kennedy received his license to practice law in Alabama while serving a Judicial Clerkship with the Honorable Samuel A. Beatty, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Alabama.

In 1980, Mr. Kennedy entered private practice with the firm of Nash & Walker, Attorneys, P.A., in Oneonta, where he became a partner in 1982. In 1993, Mr. Kennedy entered the firm of Church & Kennedy, P.C. in Pell City as a partner. In 1997, he established the present firm.

During his career, Mr. Kennedy has served as a judge and prosecutor for several municipalities and as a Deputy Attorney General for the State of Alabama in connection with the acquisition of highway rights of way. He has tried to a conclusion a number of jury cases, representing both plaintiffs and defendants, and has served as counsel in numerous appeals, both civil and criminal, to the appellate courts of the State of Alabama. As a member of the Alabama State Bar, Mr. Kennedy has been a member of several committees, including the Committee on Character and Fitness and the Lawyer Referral Service Board of Trustees. He was also appointed to the Supreme Court Standing Committee on the Alabama Rules of Civil Procedure.

Mr. Kennedy is presently a sole practitioner engaged in the general practice of law, with primary emphasis on civil litigation of all kinds — personal injury, insurance defense, contracts, construction, property and family law. He primarily litigates in the courts of St. Clair, Blount, and Talladega counties. He also regularly handles appeals before the Supreme Court of Alabama, the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals, and the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals.
